Hampton Court Palace, Kew Gardens Winter Trail

& Royal Windsor

This Christmas time be transported back to Elizabethan times at Hampton Court Palace under the watch ful eye of Queen Elizabeth l.
The magnificent Palace is transformed into Christmas as it would have been in 1592, with live drama and musical performances benefiting the perfect twelfth night celebration. Continuing with Hampton Court’s great musical tradition the Palace is brought to life with seasonal music and carols throughout the ages; from English and German carols known and loved by the Georgian monarchs and their court to Victorian carols in regal arrangements which still define Christmas today. Creep along the Haunted Gallery and discover another Palace, the Baroque Palace, full of intrigue and gossip from the Stuart and Georgian era. Visitors can go behind the scenes in the Tudor kitchens and watch the Queen’s cooks preparing a festive feast. With carols in the courtyards, musical performances, Tudor cookery, an elaborately dressed Christmas tree and skating in the shadow of King Henry VIII’s famous pleasure Palace, there is something for everyone! The ice rink takes up residence outside the Palace’s iconic Tudor facade and there will be a café serving mulled wine, hot chocolate, hearty pies and filled crepes.

Now in its fifth year, the magnificent gardens at Kew get a beautiful seasonal make-over once more as the Christmas Trail’s illuminations light up the trees, temples, glasshouses and planting. The mile-long trail will lead visitors past two huge Christmas trees, brightly coloured laser beams dancing over the waters; view the Tunnel of Lights, Scented Fire Garden and fairy-tale avenues of flora. You will be tempted by the aroma of roasting chestnuts, toasting marshmallows and traditional festive nibbles!
