Ilfracombe, Barnstaple & Bideford’s Pannier Market

Weekend Escape!

Ilfracombe is the largest of the resorts along the north Devon coast and the town is well placed for exploring the magnificent Devonshire scenery. There is a picturesque harbour, busy town centre, promenade, an award winning Aquarium and a range of interesting shops. Since 2012 the town has been home to Damien Hurst’s controversial statue; “Verity” which stands at the harbour entrance. The statue is made of bronze and stainless steel and is some 66 feet high and weighing 25 tonnes. Verity is an allegory for truth and justice and she holds the traditional symbols of justice; a sword and scales. Verity is on a long-term loan to North Devon Council and she is expected to remain here for the foreseeable future!

Accommodation

The Palm Court Hotel is centrally situated, on level ground and is within easy reach of the resort’s entertainments,
shops, beaches and harbour. Family owned, the hotel offers a warm welcome with personal service and facilities include a lift, dining room, dance floor and all bedrooms have private bathroom, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Behind the hotel is the entrance to the famous Tunnel Beaches, whilst along the promenade you will find the Pavilion Theatre and picturesque harbour. Ilfracombe has an 18 hole golf course, putting greens, cinema, varied shopping and lovely walks.
