“Winterfell Castle” Tour HMS Caroline & Downpatrick

HBO’s Game of Thrones award-winning TV series is a global phenomenon and fans of the show are now flocking to Northern Ireland’s stunning Causeway Coast where much of the series was filmed. This tour takes you to Ireland’s only official Game of Thrones attraction based at the National Trust’s, Castle Ward, used as the location for “Winterfell” where visitors can embark on a castle orientation tour for an immersive Game of Thrones experience. The tour includes exclusive viewing of the HBO production company’s audio visual presentation which shows both behind the scenes footage and the visual effects wizardry used on-site during filming.

At the time of publication of this leaflet, Passports are not a requirement for British Citizens visiting the Irish Republic, however the Irish Authorities have indicated that this policy is to change in the future and passengers are therefore recommended to carry a valid Passport or photographic I.D. e.g. photo driving licence with them on this holiday. Accommodation

The traditional 3* Corrs Corner Hotel is situated eight miles from Belfast city centre, at the gateway to the Antrim Coast. In the heart of the community since 1919, the hotel provides a warm Irish welcome and facilities include lobby, restaurant, bar, lift and all bedrooms have en-suite bathroom, TV, direct dial telephone, hair dryer, iron/ironing board and tea/coffee maker.

Itinerary*

Friday: Early morning departure to Holyhead where we board the 08.55hrs ferry service to Dublin port. We disembark and continue northwards via Dundalk and Newry to Belfast and to the hotel. Settle into your room before enjoying your evening meal.

Saturday: This morning we visit HMS Caroline, Belfast’s newest visitor attraction; enjoy a dynamic film showing the drama and devastation a battle can bring; explore the restored cabins, learn about the Battle of Jutland and enjoy the interactive exhibits. This afternoon
we take a scenic drive taking in some famous Game of Thrones filming locations including Carrickfergus Castle, Carnlough Village, Dunluce Castle, Larry Bane Quarry and The Dark Hedges

Sunday: Sharpen your swords and tighten your shield straps!; as we head to the National Trust’s, Castle Ward the filming location for “Winterfell” in the first series. Here we meet our guide for the Castle orientation tour.This afternoon we travel to the medieval town of Downpatrick, believed to be the final resting place of St. Patrick. Attractions include Down County Museum, Down Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Grave.

Monday: After breakfast we bid farewell and retrace our route to Dublin Port where we board the afternoon ferry sailing to Holyhead. After disembarking we continue the homeward journey.
