Mon - We will arrive in Scarborough and check in at the Delmont Hotel, where you can settle into your room and enjoy the stunning views of North Bay. Afterward, take some free time to explore the town's attractions. Stroll along the sandy beaches of South Bay, take a ride on the historic North Bay Railway, or visit the iconic Scarborough Castle, offering panoramic views of the coastline. Recognized as Britain's first seaside resort, Scarborough boasts a rich history dating back over 360 years, with attractions like Europe's largest open-air theatre.
Tue - After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely day exploring Scarborough at your own pace. Visit the Rotunda Museum, one of the world's first purpose-built museums, showcasing fascinating geological exhibits. Alternatively, explore the tranquil Peasholm Park, known for its oriental-themed gardens and serene lake. We will conclude the evening with a leisurely evening dinner reflecting on the day's experiences.
Wed - After a hearty breakfast, we embark on a scenic coach journey to Pickering, where we pause for a delightful coffee break. From Pickering, we board the iconic North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a nostalgic steam train ride through the picturesque moorland to Goathland Station. This charming station, known as 'Hogsmeade' in the Harry Potter films and 'Aidensfield' in the beloved TV series Heartbeat, offers a unique glimpse into cinematic history.
Upon arrival in Goathland, immerse yourself in the village's rich heritage. Stroll through the quaint streets where time seems to stand still, visit the Goathland Hotel—famously known as the Aidensfield Arms—and explore the local shops that capture the essence of a bygone era. For nature enthusiasts, a short walk leads to the stunning Mallyan Spout waterfall, cascading gracefully through the lush woodland. After a day of exploration and discovery, we return to Scarborough, reflecting on the day's adventures and the timeless charm of Goathland.
Thu - After a hearty breakfast at the Delmont Hotel, we embark on a scenic drive to the charming coastal town of Bridlington. Upon arrival, you have the option to explore the town independently or join an optional guided visit to Sewerby Hall and Gardens. This Grade I listed Georgian country house is set in 50 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and offers a variety of attractions. Inside the hall, you can explore Edwardian-era interiors and an exhibition dedicated to pioneering aviator Amy Johnson. The award-winning gardens include the Walled, Rose, and Pleasure Gardens, as well as serene woodland walks. Families will enjoy the small zoo, home to animals such as pygmy goats, llamas, and penguins. For those seeking adventure, the Woodland Activity Area features exciting play equipment like a zip line, balance beams, and a wobbly bridge. After a day of exploration, we gather for a delightful dinner, reflecting on the day's experiences.
Fri - Following breakfast enjoy some free time in Scarborough before we commence the homeward journey.
