Itinerary

Mon  – We begin our tour with a ride to charming Bakewell, where its vibrant stall market awaits, over 100 stalls brimming with local produce, artisan breads, crafts all positioned along the River Wye. You can then soak up the atmosphere of your hotel and the city of Sheffield.

Tues – Begin your day enveloped in the stately elegance of Burton Constable Hall, an impressive Elizabethan prodigy house with later Georgian and Victorian refinements. Marvel at its soaring Elizabethan Great Hall originally top lit by a lantern and wander through its richly panelled Long Gallery. Delve into the opulent interiors of the Great Drawing Room and the whimsical Chinese Room, admire fine Georgian furniture and original plasterwork, and explore the treasures of its renowned 18th century cabinet of curiosities. All set within Capability Brown’s sweeping 300 acre parkland, its elegant façades and historic ambiance promise an unforgettable visit.

Wed - Today we will discover the birthplace of the factory system at Cromford Mills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about Richard Arkwright’s revolutionary mill, witness restored machinery in action, and stroll along the canal with history and heritage brought to life.

Thu - Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Chesterfield's Open-Air Market, one of the largest in the country. With over 120 stalls, you'll find a treasure trove of antiques, vintage jewellery, retro clothing, quirky bric-a-brac, and second-hand tools, perfect for collectors and bargain hunters alike. As you explore, don't miss the  opportunity to visit the Church of St Mary and All Saints, renowned for its distinctive Crooked Spire. Standing 228 feet tall, the spire twists 45 degrees and leans approximately 9 feet from its true centre, making it a unique architectural marvel.

Fri - After breakfast, we embark on a scenic journey home, taking a delightful detour through Matlock Bath, a charming town nestled in the heart of the Peak District. Often referred to as “Little Switzerland,” Matlock Bath boasts a unique blend of Victorian seaside charm and natural beauty.
