The dams are undoubtedly the biggest draw to Elan Valley and they offer a wonderful year round backdrop for cyclists, walkers, and photographers. There are four dams on the river Elan; Craig Goch, Pen y Garreg, Garreg Ddu, and Caban Coch. The river Claerwen has the newest, and largest Claerwen dam followed by the unfinished Dol y Mynach dam.

Brecon Mountain Railway runs from Pant, 3 miles North of Merthyr Tydfil, to Torpantau following part of the route of the original Brecon & Merthyr Railway which closed in 1964. Travel from the Main Station at Pant in one of the all-weather Observation Carriages, behind a vintage Steam Locomotive!

Itinerary

Fri -  This morning we make our way Elan Valley Visitors Centre for our guided tour of Elam Dams. Later we continue on to our hotel for our evening meal.

Sat - After breakfast we make our way to Cardiff for the day in our very own capital. Later we return to the hotel for the evening meal.

Sun - This morning we depart the hotel and make our way to Brecon Mountain Railway, for our return journey from Pant to Torpantau. Rejoin the coach as we make our homeward journey.
