Port Sunlight

Port Sunlight is a beautiful model village and award-winning tourist attraction boasting wide boulevards lined with charming cottages, all built in an intriguing range of architectural styles.

Originally built for workers at the nearby Lever Brothers Factory, the Wirral village attracts around 300,000 visitors each year.

With more than 2000 residents, the village features a range of attractions including the Port Sunlight Experience. This unique visitor attraction allows you to find out about the history of this special village at Port Sunlight Museum, experience what life was like here over a century ago in the Edwardian Worker’s Cottage, and immerse yourself in the story of soap at the interactive SoapWorks.

The village is the perfect choice for a day out with 130 acres of beautiful parkland and gardens. The museum shop, featuring souvenirs including Sunlight Soap and Vinolia, postcards depicting village scenes and artwork created by local artists, is also well worth a browse, as is the stunning Lady Lever Art Gallery.

Parkgate

Parkgate is a small town on the western coast of Wirral, facing across the Dee to Wales, and downstream from Chester.

It’s popular with people from the region for days out (and home to a famouse ice cream parlour!). But it’s not widely known that Parkgate not only has a history to rival that of Chester, but it also played a foundational role in the development of Irish migration into England in the 18th and 19th centuries.
