Once every ten years at Summerseat tunnel a portal opens to the dark past… But what evil beasties and nasty things await on the other side? Join us at ELR this year for family Halloween fun aboard the “scream train” and help the Monster Squad keep order and vanquish the ghouliees! Warning: This is a family event and joining in, screaming and singing is encouraged.

There will be ghoulish goodies galore, and your monstrous new friends will include a fang-tastically friendly vampire, a chatty Zombie, mad Dr Frankenburger, a snappy plant creature and more oddballs and curios. Be sure not to miss the all singing, all dancing “Skeletonettes” on the platform!

Make the most of this opportunity to show off your best fancy dress – you want to blend in with all the creeps and critters after all!

What’s Included

  • Haunted house walkthrough over the ghoulishly decorated footbridge at Bury, featuring all manner of animatronic creeps and kooks.
  • Interactions with the friendly fiends of the ELR Monster Squad like Bob the Zombie and Count Brian the Vampire.
  • An approximately 80-minute steam train ride from Bury to Rawtenstall and back, spooky entertainment and music along the route.
  • A goody bag for every child full of tricks and treats.
  • Add on Carn-Evil sited at Bury Transport Museum just across the road from Bury Bolton Street Station.

Thrills and chills at the Carn-Evil!

Hankering for more horror? Buckle up and boogie over to the Boo-ry Transport Museum for the Carn-Evil. There will be a host of theme park rides that are sure to put the fear of fun into you!

Rides and attractions include:

  • The Twist (suitable for all ages)
  • The Dragon (suitable for all ages)
  • The Haunted House (suitable for all ages)
  • The Balloons (suitable for all ages)
  • The Swingboats (Children up to 12)
  • The Toy Ride (Children up to 7)
  • The Track Ride (Children up to 8)

Alongside the rides there will also be a spooktacular show, filled with even more colourful characters, taking place at regular intervals and including a disco, magic show and fancy dress competition with prizes! Your ticket gets you access to all the attractions at the museum, and it’s all family friendly, with rides for all ages.

Open from 4pm until 9pm, you can go before or after your Halloween train experience, it’s entirely up to you and whatever fits in with your evening and train departure time.
