Sun - Morning departure as we head south making our way to the hotel in time for our evening meal.
Mon - Today, we make the very short journey from our hotel to Leeds Castle. This elegant 12th century castle rises majestically from the waters of its moat and is surrounded by 500 acres of beautiful parkland and gardens. We have 900 years of history to take in, from its beginnings as a Norman stronghold to being the home of the wealthy Anglo-American heiress the Hon. Lady Baillie.
Tue - We begin our day in charming Whitstable with time at leisure to explore. This lovely seaside town is home to boutique shops, eateries and a pleasant harbour and seafront that we can stroll along. We then travel along the coast via Broadstairs to the popular seaside town of Ramsgate, where we enjoy a guided walking tour of Ramsgate Tunnels, the UK’s largest network of civilian wartime tunnels. We see the purpose-built air raid precaution tunnels where thousands took shelter and lived under the town, hearing stories of life underground, how the tunnels were built and how a town below the town evolved.
Wed - Our day begins with a guided visit to the beautifully restored Godinton House & Gardens, in the heart of Kent. Our guide will unravel 600 years of history before we have time to explore the delightful gardens. This afternoon we travel to the heart of Kent to the renowned Chapel Down Vineyard near Tenterden. Here we enjoy a guided tour of the vineyard, learning how the various still and sparkling wines are harvested and produced, followed by a tutored wine tasting.
Thu - After breakfast we depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
