Itinerary

Thu -  Morning departure as we make our way to Glasglow, some free time in the city before we make our way to the hotel. Settle into your room and enjoy your evening meal.

Fri - Today we head to the dock at the Glasgow Science Centre to catch our morning departure on the Waverley Paddle Steamer for a return journey to Rothesay on the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer. We travel “doon the watter” on the River Clyde, historically one of Glasgow resident’s favourite holiday trips. When on board the Waverley we can visit the engine room and see the mighty steam engine power the ship’s massive paddle wheels. The Waverley also has a traditional dining saloon serving a range of meals and snacks, also period lounges so the beautiful coastline can be enjoyed from the Promenade Deck or the comfort of a seat indoors. We have a short pause to explore the Victorian seaside resort of Rothesay before embarking on our return journey.

Sat - This morning we enjoy the Three Bridges circular cruise on the Firth of Forth. Our cruise takes in spectacular views of the Forth bridges, the

Edinburgh skyline to the south, Fife to the north and the island of Inchcolm with its medieval abbey. In the afternoon we head to the Falkirk Wheel, a fascinating feat of engineering connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. As part of our tour, we experience this iconic rotating boat lift first hand, taking our seats on the canal boat for a memorable journey. In a matter of minutes, the amazing structure transports us 35 metres above, to the beginning of the Union Canal, before we descend back to the start point and visitor centre.

Sun - After breakfast we depart the hotel and make our way to the market town of Kendal. Some free time here for you to explore and have some lunch. Later re-join the coach for the homeward journey.
