PSV Mechanic – Job Opportunity
PSV Mechanic
We are seeking an experienced PSV Mechanic to join our workshop team,
carrying out inspections, maintenance and repairs across our modern fleet of coaches.
This is a full-time, permanent role based at our depot in North Wales.
Main Duties
- Routine 6-weekly PDI inspections and annual MOT preparation on fleet vehicles.
- Routine maintenance and repairs on Scania, DAF, Dennis, Volvo and MAN coaches.
- Mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis and rectification to a high standard.
- Work across engines, gearboxes, running gear, electrical systems and body repairs.
- Attend local breakdowns both in and out of hours.
- Daily review of driver defect sheets and remedial work completion.
- Plan and allocate work tickets and liaise for scheduling.
- Maintain detailed records of planned and completed work.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised workshop environment.
This role is not suitable for apprentices. The successful candidate will be eligible for continued professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Recognised apprenticeship as Bus Mechanic / PSV Technician / HGV Engineer.
- Formal qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Completion of professional training such as IRTEC pathways.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ similar workshop experience.
- Strong knowledge of DVSA rules and PSV inspections.
- Electrical diagnostic skills for systems and management units.
- Work safely to high Health & Safety standards.
- Flexible team member supporting depot operations.
Desirable
- Dealership workshop experience.
- Full UK driving licence with PSV/HGV entitlement and valid CPC.
- Ability to pass a DBS check.
- Skills in welding, metal repairs, bodywork, painting.

Voel Coaches is excited to announce a , new opportunity for drivers who hold a bus or coach licence but have less than 2 years’ driving experience.
Join our Tour Driver Training Scheme, currently being trialled, and take the first step towards a rewarding career in professional coach driving.
📌 Who This Scheme is For
- Drivers with a valid PCV (Category D) licence
- Less than 1 years’ experience driving coaches or buses
- Motivated to develop skills in tour driving, customer service, and route management
🚀 What the Scheme Includes
- Structured training on UK and European tours
- Hands-on coaching under supervision of experienced drivers
- Opportunity to gain full work experience in a professional environment
- Additional benefits:
📅 Duration & Commitment
- First month: shadowing tour drivers and gaining experience with executive vehicles.
- Second month: completing your own day trips and developing customer experiences with the tours team.
- Fourth month: allocated short breaks, multi-man driving and continental experience.
- Six months: full tour duties with your own allocated vehicle.
